Peter Zablud is an experienced and expert notary. He is the author of the authoritative reference work “Principles of Notarial Practice” which has been sold in 21 countries and is now in its second edition.
He conducts a substantial and respected notarial practice founded upon a high level of service and knowledge. His clientele includes many of Australia’s largest and most significant listed companies, superannuation trustees, fund managers and international investors as well as a wide range of public entities, companies and people who have transactions and interests abroad.
He also assists the IP departments of several major law firms and advises a number of Melbourne’s patent and trademark attorneys in relation to notarial practice.
As Director of Notarial Studies at Victoria University, Melbourne, Professor Zablud designed and is responsible for the presentation of the Professional Course in Notarial Practice – the pre-eminent qualification for notaries in Australia and one of the outstanding courses of education of its kind in the common law world.
He regularly presents Papers on the Authentication of Documents for cross-border purposes at International Conferences.
Professor Zablud presents workshops and masterclasses for practising and prospective notaries internationally and throughout Australia, as well as lectures and seminars for government and private organisations.
Peter Zablud is a Distinguished Fellow of The Australian and New Zealand College of Notaries. He was the founder of the College and the first Chairman of its Board of Governors. He is a Fellow of the Society of Notaries of Victoria and is a Councillor and past-President of the Society. He was the first Australian individual member of the International Union of Notaries.
In February 2017, The Notaries Society of England and Wales conferred Honorary Membership of the Society on Peter – “In view of [his] work and substantial achievements… in relation to the notarial profession, not only in Australia but also worldwide.”
He holds a Reserve Force Decoration (RFD) and The National Medal for service as an officer in the Citizens Military Force/Australian Army Reserve.
On Australia Day 2017, Professor Zablud was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his significant service to the law and to legal standards and education particularly in the field of notarial studies.
